I could as well move to London...

This is merely to advertise that I will have two events in London shortly.

On 5th March, I will have the opportunity - thanks to Danny Quah - to give a public lecture at LSE. The lecture " Re-measuring the World: China´s Global Development Impact" will be organised as a Confucius Institute for Business London/LSE IDEAS/Department of International Development joint event, with drinks afterwards (importantly). So if you happen to be in London, please note the venue: Tuesday 5 March 2013, 6.30 to 8.00pm, NAB 1.04, New Academic Building. This event is free and open to all however places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. To book a place please call 020 7955 6253 or email: confucius.business@lse.ac.uk |or Y.Liu56@lse.ac.uk|. A nice poster

A nice poster tells you what my CIBL/LSE lecture is all about.

Five days earlier, I will give a short presentation at the Convocation Hall of Westminster, to discuss key issues in relation to finance and growth in low-income countries at an event to launch the ESRC/DFID growth research programme second call on the 28th Feb. The programme funds world class scientific research on issues relating to economic growth in Low Income Countries, with high potential for impact on policy and practice. Applications are sought from across the social sciences. The programme will allow academics from developing and developed countries to work together in any configuration of their choosing, and principal investigators can be from anywhere in the world. Projects with developing country partners are strongly encouraged.
Applications will be invited for projects with a Full Economic Cost (FEC) value of £100,000 and above. ESCR/DIFD expect to fund between 25 to 30 research projects assuming an average project size of £370,000 (at 100 per cent FEC) and duration of up to three years. It is intended to announce a call for proposals on 25 February 2013. This pre-call is being announced to allow interested researchers to begin discussions with potential research partners and research users in advance of the formal call for proposals. The deadline for Outline Proposals will be 25 April 2013.
Good luck to all who want to apply!
